The original Lakebase offering - a managed Postgres OLTP database instance running on fixed-size compute you provisioned and scaled by hand, with one primary node for writes and optional secondaries across zones.

• One capacity unit meant a flat 16 GB of RAM, so 'scaling the database' was a number a human typed. 🔗
• Its connection hostnames were global with no region in them, so the endpoint told you nothing about where the database actually lived. 🔗
• Its restore window could be set as high as 35 days, so an instance could remember more than a month of its own past. 🔗
