Genie Code is the current Databricks name, previously Databricks Assistant (since March 2026).

AI coding assistant that generates and fixes SQL and Python across notebooks, the SQL editor, and pipelines, grounded in Unity Catalog metadata.

• Unlike a generic code assistant, it reads your Unity Catalog metadata - so its SQL and Python suggestions already know your real table and column names. 🔗

⚠ Limitations: Databricks recommends always reviewing generated code before running it, since it can make mistakes, and warns that auto-approve is a best-effort productivity heuristic, not a security boundary. 🔗
