New feature
Agent Runtime
Agent Runtime is a Databricks ai / ml capability, introduced October 2026.
Databricks-hosted serverless compute for agents - it runs your agent server, such as DurableAgentServer, on Databricks Apps, so you deploy agent code from the Agent Bricks CLI instead of provisioning servers.
- Under the new name it is still a Databricks App - every deployment is an app named agent-bricks-<name>, and you can monitor it in Databricks Apps like any other.
- Scaling has a documented ceiling of five - an agent runs on 1 to 5 instances, set with the --instances flag.
- Deployments are loyal to their agent server - to switch servers you create a new project and deploy it under a new name.
Limitations: An agent runs on 1 to 5 instances, and the agent server of an existing deployment cannot be changed; switching servers means a new project deployed under a new name.
