Databricks ODBC Driver
Databricks ODBC Driver is the current Databricks name, previously Simba Spark ODBC Driver (since February 2026).
Simba Spark ODBC Driver Databricks ODBC Driver
The ODBC driver for connecting BI tools and applications to Databricks SQL warehouses and clusters.
- For years this was the third-party 'Simba Spark' driver in disguise - Databricks finally put its own name on it in 2026, and existing DSNs never noticed the change.
- Databricks stopped shipping new Simba-branded versions but promised to support existing ones for two more years.
Limitations: Cloud Fetch applies only to query results larger than 1 MB, requires an E2 workspace and an S3 bucket without versioning, and needs ODBC driver 2.6.17 or above; with bucket versioning enabled, Databricks can't garbage-collect older result files after the 24-hour retention, which can grow storage.
