Databricks ODBC Driver

Databricks ODBC Driver is the current Databricks name, previously Simba Spark ODBC Driver (since February 2026).

Simba Spark ODBC Driver Databricks ODBC Driver

The ODBC driver for connecting BI tools and applications to Databricks SQL warehouses and clusters.

  • For years this was the third-party 'Simba Spark' driver in disguise - Databricks only put its own name on it in February 2026, and the rename shipped with a migration guide for updating your connections.
  • Databricks stopped distributing new versions of the legacy Simba-branded driver but promised existing versions would stay supported for two years.

Limitations: Cloud Fetch applies only to query results larger than 1 MB, requires an E2 workspace and an S3 bucket without versioning, and needs ODBC driver 2.6.17 or above; with bucket versioning enabled, Databricks can't garbage-collect older result files after the 24-hour retention, which can grow storage.
