A central place in Unity Gateway to discover, publish, and govern agent skills across an organization, each skill stored as a Unity Catalog securable so the same grants, tags, and audit that protect tables decide who can use it.
- Your coding agent reaches the registry through an MCP server literally named databricks-skill-registry, which the Unity Gateway CLI registers for you when it signs you in.
- The whole setup is three commands, and the docs even hand you a prompt so your coding agent can type them itself: install the ug CLI, run ug configure, then ug skills.
- For all the new branding underneath it is still a Unity Catalog object - the docs call a skill a first-class Unity Catalog securable.
Limitations: Beta, and an account admin has to enable the Unity AI preview from the account console Previews page before anyone can create or use a skill. The schema must sit in a standard Unity Catalog catalog and resolve to a managed storage location or skill creation fails, and workspaces enforcing the Compliance Security Profile can read existing skills but cannot create, update, or delete them.
