New SQL editor is a Databricks compute / bi capability, introduced 2025.

The redesigned Databricks SQL query editor, with multi-statement tabs, inline results, and Genie-assisted authoring.

• It runs single or multi-statement queries and lets you chat with Genie Code to write, refine, or understand queries right in the editor. 🔗
• It became the default editor for every workspace in late May 2026. 🔗

⚠ Limitations: Can't be used for queries you don't own or that contain query-based dropdown lists, and shared query results are limited to 64000 rows. 🔗
